Our Ethos

At Little Stars we recognise that the Early Years are the most important years of our children’s lives.

We have play at the hearth of our ethos and work with the children’s interests to provide them with unique experiences that challenge them to become the very best they can be.

We have developed an ambitious curriculum to meet the holistic developmental needs of all our children ensuring they thrive from their very first day at Little Stars.

Our learning environment is safe, nurturing, and a fund space where every child can shine bright.

We work closely with our parents, building strong caring relationships with all, to help their child grow into confident, curious and independent members of the Little Stars Family.

We have high expectations of our children where respect is shown to all, by all.

Children learn to respect themselves and others while being sensitive to the needs and feelings, abilities and cultures of others.

We have clear boundaries of behaviour and the children are taught consequences in a gentle and respectful way to promote positive behaviour.

  • Learning – we instil a curriculum that enables children to learn and develop to their full potential.
  • Independence – children are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and their surroundings. Staff maintain a positive mindset to support children to persevere when things get tricky.
  • Teaching – practitioners are confident in the curriculum they teach.
  • Trust – positive relationships are built between the nursery, children, parents/carers and the wider community.
  • Life Skills – staff provide children with the skills and experiences they need to understand the world they live in.
  • Effectiveness – we ensure the teaching provided to children is as effective as possible to make sure they progress to the next stage of their education.
  • Self-Belief – we equip the children with the skills and confidence to believe in themselves, their learning and the choices they make.
  • Tolerance – children and staff are tolerant of others and are able to follow rules and boundaries set.
  • Accepting – staff encourage children to show empathy and understanding of different cultures, abilities and beliefs.
  • Reflective – we take pride in our teaching and learning, assess or teaching and learning and find ways to improve and adapt when things change.
  • Successful – We provide a rich and varied range of experiences to enable children to understand and succeed in the ever-changing world they live in.
